Just opened the box?

Update it first.

Your speaker ships with older software. The app updates it free, in about a minute: Me → Connected Devices → Update firmware. Keep it close and at least half charged. Until then:

Turn off
Hold for about 2 seconds. Three presses do nothing yet.
Volume
Use your phone. Holding the button turns it off.
10-second restart
Not until you update.
Light at night
Goes dark while you sleep. Normal. Still working.
Light while charging
May flicker. Steady green may not show.
Plugged in while off
Stays dark, but it’s charging.

After the update, this page is right.

One button does it all.

Even volume.

Your first night

The Sleep screen.

Open the app at bedtime. This is what you’ll see:

The Sleep screen in the Drowsie app: three buttons — Drowsie Autopilot chooses sounds, Play last night's sounds, Play from another app — and a Choose something else link.
Drowsie Autopilot chooses sounds

Drowsie picks a sound for you. It fades out once you’re asleep, and learns which sounds help you most.

Play last night’s sounds

Plays what worked last night. On your very first night this says You choose sounds: pick from the library.

Play from another app

Fall asleep to Spotify, a podcast, anything. Once you’re asleep, Drowsie takes over for the rest of the night.

Choose something else →

Opens the full sound library.

Stop

Once your night is running, the screen changes to a Stop button, the volume, and an Autopilot on/off switch. Stop ends your night and turns the speaker off. Tap it when you get up.

Plays your other apps too. Spotify, Calm, podcasts, anything over Bluetooth. Autopilot only works in the Drowsie app, since it can’t control other apps.

Charging, washing, updates.

Charging

  • The USB-C port is under the cover. Unzip it.
  • Any USB plug. Full charge in about 5 hours.
  • Battery life depends on volume and app settings. Charge at the red flash.
  • It stays awake on the charger. That’s normal — it’s how it shows the charge light and takes updates. It stays silent.

Washing the cover

Machine washable. Take the electronics out first.

  1. Unzip the cover.
  2. Slide out the electronics (they have their own sleeve).
  3. Gentle cycle. Air dry.
  4. Slide them back in. Zip up.

Free updates

We send free updates. Same place: Me → Connected Devices → Update firmware. Keep it close and half charged.

Questions and quick fixes.

Where does it go?

Under your pillow. Flat side down, button up, where your ear rests.

How do I connect it?

Follow the prompts in the app. Once set up, turn the app on first, then your Drowsie.

My phone can’t find it.

There are two connections. One is Bluetooth, which you connect in your phone’s Bluetooth settings. The other is the app, which connects when the app is on. Make sure the app is on, and the speaker is on, close by, and not on the charger.

No sound, or it plays from my phone.

Go to Settings → Bluetooth and tap Drowsie so it says Connected. Then check volume is up and it’s not paused.

How do I turn it off?

Press the button 3 times, or tap Stop in the app. Plugging it in and unplugging it turns it back on.

It won’t turn off while it’s charging.

That’s by design. On the charger it stays awake so it can show the charge light and take updates. It stays silent, so it won’t keep you up. Once you unplug it, the button turns it off as usual.

I can’t hear it under my pillow.

Turn the volume up in the app first. Then press and hold the speaker’s button to raise its own volume. Check it’s flat side down, button up. And make sure it’s updated (see Just opened the box?).

My sign-in code didn’t arrive.

Check your junk or spam folder. If it’s not there after a minute, ask for a new one.

Do I get a free year of Sleep Club?

Yes. Every speaker comes with one. It switches on when you first connect. No codes.

Which email do I sign in with?

Bought it on our website? The same email. A gift, or bought elsewhere? Your own email. That makes your account, and the year is yours.

I already pay for Sleep Club.

You won’t be charged again. The speaker just links to your account.

What happens after the free year?

One free year per speaker, for whoever connects it first. Then Sleep Club renews each year.

Does the speaker work without Sleep Club?

Yes. It works like a regular Bluetooth speaker. Play anything from your phone. Autopilot and sleep tracking need Sleep Club.

I paid but never got a confirmation email.

Check your junk or spam folder first. If it’s not there, message us with the email you bought with and we’ll find your order.

Can I return it?

Yes. Use Drowsie on at least 30 of your first 60 nights. If it still hasn’t earned its place under your pillow, email hello@drowsie.com within those 60 nights for a full refund. We cover return shipping. Full policy.

The battery drops when I’m not using it.

Update it. Older software kept the speaker awake. See Just opened the box?

How do I update it?

In the app: Me → Connected Devices → Update firmware. Keep the speaker close and at least half charged. It takes about a minute.

Can two people use it?

One speaker per sleeper. It learns one person. Each speaker comes with its own free year, so a Partner Pack gives you two.

How does it know I’m asleep?

A motion sensor inside. It notices when you go still, and when you start to wake. Nothing is recorded.

Is there an Android app?

Not yet. The app is iPhone-only for now. Android is being built.

Stuck?

Message us from the app: open Help, send a note. We’ll write back.
